Product Description
All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser is an industrial grade, water-reducible, alkaline detergent developed especially for cleaning tasks requiring the safe removal of oils, greases, fats and carbon deposits. The advanced combination of wetting and penetrating agents offers superior cleaning, degreasing and surface preparation results. This water-based product can be used in place of petroleum and chlorinated solvents.

Advantages
All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser cuts, lifts and strips away tough, oily soils. After rinsing, the cleaned surfaces are film-free and provide superior adhesion for new coatings and sealants.

All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser is not an emulsifying cleaner. Oily contaminants in collected solutions will float to the surface and can be skimmed off reducing hazardous disposal costs significantly. The remaining oil-free solution is reusable.

All Purpose Prepaint Cleaner is odorless, requires no unreasonable safety equipment and performs effectively through a broad temperature range. It mixes readily in water and is safe to use near vegetation.

Dilution Guide
A. Direct Application of Solution
All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser is highly concentrated and is diluted with water for most applications. Dilution rates will vary depending upon the surface, the soil load and method of application.

Dilution Guide for Direct Application of Solution

Soil

Dilution

Light Duty

Mix 2 oz. per gallon of water

Medium Duty

Mix 3 oz. per gallon of water

Heavy Duty

Mix 5 oz. per gallon of water

Note: Heavy soil conditions may require stronger concentrations.

B. Pressure Washer Detergent Injection
Most cold water pressure washers with detergent injectors are pre-set for an injection rate of 10 parts water to 1 part of detergent. To obtain lower concentrations, premix the solution before injecting.

Coverage Calculator

To determine how much All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser will be needed for a specific cleaning job, use the following guide:

Calculate the total area to be cleaned by multiplying the length by height
Length  X  Height  =  Total Square Footage
________   X   ________   =    ________

To determine the approximate gallons of All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser required:

  1. Select Light, Medium or Heavy Duty from the chart (below) based on soil conditions.
  2. Find the Square Feet of Coverage closest to the Total Surface Area in Square Feet to be cleaned.
  3. Use the number in the "Gallons of Concentrate" column for the number of gallons needed to clean a flat, smooth surface using a low pressure spray applicator.

Note: For rough, porous or corrugated surfaces, multiply gallons X 1.2.

For high pressure spray application multiply gallons X 1.3.

Research

A. United States Department of Agriculture
All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser has been accepted with an A-1 category designation as a general cleaning agent on all surfaces or for use with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in all departments of USDA inspected facilities. Regulations require a potable water rinse following cleaning.

B. Independent Laboratory Testing
All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser has been tested for cleaning effectiveness and coating compatibility by an independent testing laboratory. The testing protocol and results are detailed below.

Scoring
Inasmuch as some observations were subjective, they have been rated using the following ASTM Standardized Scoring System:

Procedure
ASTM D 3359
The bottom half of five - 4" x 8" steel panels were immersed in All Purpose Prepaint Degreaser, removed and air dried for 24 hours. Each panel was then entirely coated with one of the following coatings and dried at 77°F for seven days. The immersed and unimmersed areas of each panel were then tested for coating adhesion.
